LOBAMBA – On 21 April 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs hosted the final roadshow in Lobamba, moving from Mashibhini to Somhlolo National Stadium, marking the climax of the national build-up to the commemoration of His Majesty King Mswati III’s 58th birthday and 40 years on the Throne (Ruby Jubilee), set for Friday, 24 April 2026 at Somhlolo National Stadium.
The Lobamba roadshow brings to a close a nationwide mobilisation campaign that has taken place across towns in all four regions of the country, uniting communities in celebration of this historic milestone.
Led by the Minister of Home Affairs, HRH Princess Lindiwe Dlamini, the final roadshow drew strong participation from community members, stakeholders and performers, reflecting a vibrant display of unity, patriotism and national pride.
The march came alive with performances from the Police Infantry Drill Squad from Matsapha Police Academy, the Correctional Services Band, cultural groups, and members of the community, creating an atmosphere filled with colour, energy and celebration as the procession made its way to the stadium.
Upon arrival at Somhlolo National Stadium, activities transitioned into full-scale rehearsals, where preparations are now at an advanced stage ahead of the historic national celebration.
On the ground, the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) Brass Band, the Correctional Services Band, and various cultural groups continued fine-tuning their performances.
The combination of music, discipline and cultural expression has brought the stadium to life, setting the tone for what promises to be a memorable national occasion.
The significance of the rehearsals was further underscored by the presence of national leadership. Prime Minister Russel Mmiso Dlamini, Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla, and Her Royal Highness (HRH) Princess Tsandzile Dlamini joined HRH Princess Lindiwe Dlamini at the stadium, reinforcing the importance of the final preparations and the national unity surrounding the celebration.
As rehearsals stretched into the evening and eventually concluded, the Prime Minister addressed the performers, commending their dedication and effort while wishing them success ahead of Friday’s event.
“We commend you for your dedication and hard work. You are no longer just rehearsing, you are stepping into history. We wish you well and God’s blessings as you prepare for this important national celebration,” said the Prime Minister.
In a moment that reflected humility and connection, the leaders moved from the stage to join the performers on the ground, kneeling among them for photos and sharing a rare, down-to-earth interaction after a long day of rehearsals.
The ongoing rehearsals are focused on ensuring that every aspect of the programme reflects the scale, dignity and significance of the occasion, as the nation prepares to honour His Majesty’s remarkable 40-year reign.
The final Lobamba roadshow and the intensified rehearsals form a critical part of the national mobilisation effort, aimed at strengthening unity and encouraging full public participation.
As the countdown continues, Somhlolo National Stadium reflects a nation ready to celebrate united in pride, grounded in culture, and prepared to mark this historic milestone in a fitting and memorable way.
