EZULWINI ROADSHOW CLOSES NATIONAL BUILD-UP IN STYLE AS COMMUNITY RALLIES BEHIND HIS MAJESTY’S 40-YEAR REIGN CELEBRATION

Press Release

EZULWINI – The Ministry of Home Affairs, in collaboration with Ezulwini Municipality, hosted the Ezulwini Roadshow on 20 April 2026, as part of the national build-up to the commemoration of 40 years of His Majesty King Mswati III on the Throne and his 58th birthday, to be celebrated at Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba.

The roadshow, which moved from Ezulwini Police Post to Corner Plaza, brought together community members, local leaders and stakeholders in a vibrant display of unity, patriotism and national pride. As the final roadshow in the nationwide series of activations, the event marked a fitting close to the countrywide build-up to this historic national celebration.

The atmosphere was lifted by the energetic presence of drum majorettes from St. Mary’s High School, Lobamba, a cultural performance by Ngcoseni Central High School, the lively direction of Master of Ceremonies Sandile Dlamini, popularly known as “Sweet Banana,” as well as performances from the Correctional Services Band and the Police Infantry Drill Squad from Matsapha Police Academy.

With every step, song and performance, Ezulwini added its voice to this national celebration, reflecting the unity, pride and shared purpose that continue to define His Majesty’s remarkable 40-year reign.

The celebration in Ezulwini did not end there. The community was also on the move in a second march that stretched from Mananga Centre Campus in Ezulwini to The Gables and all the way to the Eswatini Water Services Corporation Headquarters.

Along the route, the streets were filled with colour, culture and excitement as community members came together in honour of His Majesty’s 40 years on the Throne.

Cultural performances added life to the procession, turning the march into a joyful expression of unity, patriotism and national pride.

Welcoming the gathering, Ezulwini Mayor Refiloe Mamogobo said it was both an honour and a privilege for the town to host the finale of the roadshows staged across the country.

She said the community felt deeply blessed that His Majesty had chosen to have the prestigious national celebration hosted within the Ezulwini area.

“As a town and Inkhundla, we feel blessed and honoured that His Majesty has chosen to have this prestigious event hosted within our area. We do not take this for granted,” she said.

Mayor Mamogobo added that the Municipality had done its utmost to ensure that Ezulwini remains clean, welcoming and ready to receive the many visitors expected for the celebration.

“We have done our utmost best to ensure that the Municipality is kept pristine and welcoming to all the visitors that will descend into our shores. Together we can show our hospitality and ensure that they enjoy a pleasant stay in the Valley of Heaven,” she said.

She further noted that the celebration would also be coupled with the soft launch of the world-class International Convention Centre (ICC), which she described as a development set to become both a regional and international icon while creating meaningful employment opportunities.

The Mayor said the ICC stood as a fitting tribute to the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mswati III.

“In conclusion, I stand together with our people to wish His Majesty a prosperous birthday and continued grace and wisdom as he leads the nation to greater economic and social heights in the coming 40 years and beyond,” she said.

Also speaking during the programme, Mlandvo Dlamini, Communications Officer from the Ministry of Home Affairs, thanked the people of Ezulwini for the warm welcome and invited the community to attend the main national celebration at Somhlolo National Stadium.

He encouraged residents to come in their numbers and be part of the historic double celebration.

Meanwhile, Dudu Tfumbatsa, representing the Ezulwini Chiefdom (Umphakatsi), said it was a privilege for Ezulwini to receive the roadshow and to be part of such an important national moment.

He noted that the area’s infrastructure development, including major facilities such as the International Convention Centre, reflects the progress achieved under His Majesty’s leadership.

He said the roadshow and the march through Ezulwini had given the community a meaningful opportunity to visibly demonstrate its pride, unity and appreciation as the nation moves towards the double celebration.

He wished His Majesty King Mswati III a joyful and successful celebration of 40 years on the Throne and his 58th birthday.

The Ezulwini Roadshow forms part of a nationwide series of activations aimed at building excitement, unity and public participation ahead of the commemoration of His Majesty King Mswati III’s 40 years on the Throne and 58th birthday.
