PIGG’S PEAK – The Ministry of Home Affairs, in partnership with Pigg’s Peak Town Council, today hosted the Pigg’s Peak Roadshow as part of the national build-up to the commemoration of 40 years of His Majesty King Mswati III’s reign on the throne which will be celebrated on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba.
The roadshow, which moved from Eswatini Post and Telecommunications to the open area in front of Pep Stores, drew strong participation from community members, local leaders and stakeholders. The event brought excitement, colour and a strong spirit of patriotism as Pigg’s Peak joined the rest of the country in marking this important national milestone.
The procession was enlivened by performances from the Correctional Services Band, while drum majorettes from St. Mary’s Lobamba added rhythm and spectacle to the occasion. The programme was directed by Master of Ceremonies Sandile Dlamini, popularly known as “Sweet Banana,” who kept the crowd engaged throughout.
Welcoming the delegation and the community, Mayor of Pigg’s Peak, Mr Sipho Shongwe, thanked the Ministry of Home Affairs for bringing the roadshow to the town and described the occasion as a great honour for the people of Pigg’s Peak. He said the celebration was not only a recognition of the country’s rich heritage, but also a reflection of the unity, peace, stability and development achieved under His Majesty’s leadership over the past four decades.
“To the people of Piggs Peak, this is your moment as well. Let us embrace this opportunity to showcase our hospitality, our culture, and our unity,” said Mayor Shongwe.
Speaking during the event, Ministry of Home Affairs Communications Officer Mr Mlandvo Dlamini expressed appreciation to the people of Pigg’s Peak for warmly welcoming the roadshow and supporting the ongoing national mobilisation campaign. He urged residents to keep the town clean as Eswatini prepares to welcome visitors and tourists, saying a clean and well-presented environment strengthens the country’s image, supports tourism, encourages investment and contributes to economic growth.
Also addressing the gathering, Regional Administrator (RA) Pigg’s Peak representative, Mr Hlangabeza Shabangu, thanked the Ministry of Home Affairs for bringing the roadshow to the area and warmly welcomed all participants. He said the visit had given the community an important opportunity to be part of the national countdown to the historic celebration.
The Pigg’s Peak Roadshow forms part of a nationwide series of activations aimed at building excitement, unity and public participation ahead of the commemoration of His Majesty King Mswati III’s 40 years on the throne. As the procession moved through town, the strong turnout and enthusiastic participation by residents reflected the pride and togetherness that continue to define the national celebrations.
