
NHLANGANO, 11 April 2026 — The Nhlangano Roadshow got underway in a vibrant display of unity, culture and national pride, as communities gathered in preparation for the upcoming commemoration of His Majesty King Mswati III’s 40 years of leadership.
The roadshow began at Nhlangano Park and proceeded to the Nhlangano Bus Rank, drawing enthusiastic participation from community members who came together in a shared spirit of pride and anticipation ahead of the historic national celebration.
Led by the Ministry of Home Affairs and hosted by Nhlangano Town Council, the activation showcased Eswatini’s rich cultural heritage while reinforcing the values of unity, peace and nationhood that continue to define the country.
The programme was energised by Master of Ceremonies Sandile “Sweet Banana” Dlamini, while the Correctional Services Band set the rhythm for the day with a powerful performance that echoed through the town. Drum majorettes from Nyamane and Makhonza High Schools added colour, movement and excitement to the proceedings, while vibrant sibhaca performances and other traditional entertainment further lifted the atmosphere.
Speaking during the roadshow, Ministry of Home Affairs Communications Officer Mlandvo Dlamini thanked Nhlangano Town Council for hosting the activation and expressed appreciation for the support received from the Correctional Services Band, participating schools, sibhaca groups and other cultural performers who contributed to the success of the event.
Khetsiwe Dlamini from the Nhlangano Town Council Social Services Department expressed appreciation to the organisers for choosing Nhlangano to host the roadshow, describing it as a significant build-up to the national celebrations. She said the people of Nhlangano were proud to be associated with such an important national legacy.
A message from the Minister of Home Affairs, HRH Princess Lindiwe, was also played during the programme, inviting the nation to take part in the main celebrations at Somhlolo Stadium on 24 April 2026, as well as the cultural dance celebrations at Ludzidzini Royal Residence on 26 April 2026.
REPS Station Commander Dumsile Simelane also assured the public that police officers would be fully deployed on the roads to help ensure the safety of people travelling to the celebrations. She urged motorists and members of the public to respect the rules of the road, warning that those found breaking the law would be arrested.
The roadshow brought together lively community participation, cultural performances and T-shirt giveaways, reflecting the joy of emaSwati as they celebrate a milestone that speaks to four decades of leadership, peace, stability and national development.
Beyond the colour and entertainment, the Nhlangano Roadshow served as an important mobilisation platform, strengthening national cohesion and building excitement as the country moves closer to this significant commemoration.
The roadshow continues across the country, with upcoming activations scheduled for Piggs Peak on 13 April 2026, Siteki on 15 April 2026, and Mankayane on 17 April 2026.
